A Day Cruise to the Athens Saronic Gulf
Islands of Aegina - Poros - Hydra
Upon arrival to Piraeus you will receive a warm welcome from the officers & hostess, who will assist you geting on board at the Cruise Ship and provide you with all the necessary information concerning the cruise boat, the islands you are going to visit and the program of the cruise.
The Boat leaves Piraeus Port at 08:15 to Saronic Gulf. Within 2 hours you will be approaching Poros Island which will be your first stop.
Poros island, is the smallest of the 3 Saronic islands that is full of pine trees, separated from the Peloponnese mainland by a narrow strait.
One hour at your leisure to admire the narrow streets and the colorfull houses, take a short walk at the old clock-tower on the top of the hill and enjoy amazing views.
Visit the Cathedral of Poros Island- Aghios Georgios Church, painted by one of the most famous Greek Painters, Constantinos Parthenis.
Leaving Poros and cruising for 1 hour & 15 minutes to Hydra Island, really famous among jet-setters. In Hydra, you have 2 hours at your leisure to explore the small narrow stone-paved streets and admire the traditional architecture of the old mansions, witness of a long turbulent history. On Hydra island you can enjoy a donkey-ride, as there are no vehicles at all and taste “amigdalota”, a very special sweet made off almonds. Another option is to go for swim.
Leaving the unique Island of Hydra and sailing for approx 2 hours for the last island to visit, Aegina Island
Aegina Island is the largests of the Saronic islands and have numerous interesting sites to visit.
Two optional shore excursions are organized for you to explore the island and see the most interesting sites.
The first option is a Guided bus tour, which includes a visit to the Temple of Aphaia Athena, the best preserved Temple in Greece, situated on a top of a wooded hill. Later there would be a short visit to the Saint Nektarios Byzantine church.
The second option is a Panoramic bus tour of Aegina Island, that gives you the chance to drive across the island, see the Saint Nektarios Byzantine church, the Aegina island’s medieval capital Paleohora and of course the pistachio grooves Aegina is famous for.
- Tickets for the optional excursions can be purchased on board.
However if you choose to stay in Aegina town,you can enjoy a walk or horse-carriage ride around the town or relax in one of the harbor’s charming waterfront coffee shops
On the way back to Piraeus Port A “Traditional Greek Folk Show” with singers and dancers in original costumes form all of Greece and the ever amusing Jeannot will entertain and animate you up to the final moment as the ship docks
